Can You CURE Type 2 Diabetes? This is why your doctor will say no! – Type 2 Diabetes #5

Type 2 Diabetes #5 : Can We CURE Type 2 Diabetes? This is why your doctor will say no!

Do we have a cure for type 2 diabetes?

Hi welcome back to type 2, where we discuss everything about type 2 diabetes in a way that everyone can understand.
I’m Dr. Vladmir Carvalho. And today I’m going to answer one of the most asked questions about type 2 diabetes.
Do we have a cure for type 2 diabetes?
Today I will show you why you can not technically cure diabetes.
To do that, I will give you an example of when we cure something.
For example, let’s say that you have TB, tuberculosis
Now… you need to keep in mind that before that, your life was normal.
Until someone with TB bacteria was coughing near you or maybe talking to you and gave you the bacteria.
And now you’re coughing too, you have a fever, you have chest pain, you know, you’re feeling week,…all those stuff.
Now as a doctor I only have a simple job to do. I need to give you some antibiotics to kill the bacteria .
And when they are gone, your body gets restored and your life gets back to normal. In this case we can say that we have cured the disease.
Now when it comes to type 2 diabetes, it’s a different story.
You know that the sugar is always in your blood. And a measurement that we use is A1c. It just gives you a rough idea of your blood sugar for the last three months. But we will talk about that later.

Now…Because of your genetics and your lifestyle, leading to insulin resistance and partial loss of beta cells(the cells that produce insulin). The sugar in your blood will start to rise.
Now when it goes to a certain point, it can cause a lot of issues .
Now we have a lot of ways to deal with that. You can change your diet, you can start doing exercise, you can take medications, or even insulin.
But you need to understand one thing. If you do these, it’s possible for your blood glucose to go back to normal. But the problem is…the day you stop your lifestyle intervention, this A1c will slowly go back up.
And this is the main reason why we say that we can not cure diabetes. We can control it, but we need to control these things forever. If we stop, the A1c will go back up. And you are still diabetic. So the question is…If you have high blood sugar, If you have diabetes. Do you stay like that forever? No, there are many things that you can do to lower your blood sugar and have a normal life. But do we call that a cure? No, it’s not a cure. You are controlling your blood sugar. We can even say that you are reversing your diabetes, but we can never use the term “cure”.

New type of pepper leaves shows to efficiently suppress blood sugar levels for diabetes

‘당뇨 억제에 탁월’…고춧잎 전용 고추 개발

Diabetes is a growing problem in South Korea.
Thankfully there are some traditional foods that can help, like red pepper leaves.
And researchers say they’ve improved on this with a variety of red pepper they say is even more effective than diabetes drugs in bringing down blood sugar.
Lee Eun-jin reports.
The summer can at times be unbearably hot, but it’s also the season when food ingredients are abundant.
For many elderly Koreans, vegetables seasoned with red pepper leaves and pickled vegetables bring back nostalgic memories of their mother’s cooking.
One of the key ingredients… red pepper leaves… is known to help lower blood sugar levels.
Now, the Rural Development Administration has developed a new type of pepper designed to produce leaves that are even better at keeping blood sugar levels down.
This is the second version of the “Won-gi” pepper, which was first cultivated in 2008.
The pepper has since been cross-bred to triple its blood sugar suppressing effects.
“According to our analysis of blood sugar suppressing efficacy, diabetes drugs on the market show around 80 percent efficacy,… and the Won-gi 2 pepper extract shows 74-point-8 percent, which is not much lower than the actual drugs.”

The fruits of these Won-gi peppers don’t contain much of the blood sugar suppressing substance and can be eaten like normal peppers.
“We can cultivate both fruits… and functional leaves… so I feel it could help improve our profits.”

Results of the research on “Won-gi 2” pepper leaves
and suggestions for how to use the leaves as a food ingredient have recently been published in international academic journals.

7 Warning Signs of Type 2 Diabetes; Doctors Express Urgent Care in White Plains

diabetes remedy No Comments »

Since November is Diabetes Awareness month, here at http://DoctorsExpressHartsdale.com, we encourage you to educate yourselves on the warning signs diabetes. Diabetes is an epidemic that affects more and more people each year. In the U.S alone, over 25 million people suffer from diabetes, and it is estimated that of those 25 million, approximately half of them are completely unaware of their condition. On average, a person with the disease dies 10 to 15 years sooner than a person without diabetes.

If detected and treated in the early stages, diabetes can be managed. A considerable portion of treatment of diabetes involves minor changes in daily routines. Lifestyle changes such as eating well, exercising, not smoking, and limited alcohol consumption, can all help to control the effects of diabetes. Typically, in addition to a healthier lifestyle, an oral medication in necessary in order to control the body’s insulin levels.

If you notice that you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed below, we advise that you consult your doctor about diabetes screening. Early diagnosis and proper treatment can prevent the symptoms from manifesting into more serious, sometimes life threatening, medical complications

7 Warning Signs of Type 2 Diabetes:
Blurry vision
unexplained weight loss
incessant thirst
increased urination
nerve pain or numbness in hands and or feet
constant hunger
cuts and infections

If not managed early on, complications may include: severe kidney problems potentially leading to renal failure and the need for dialysis, premature heart attacks or strokes, cuts and infections that can lead to amputation, or serious nerve damage that can also lead to the amputation of the affected limb.

Again, we are currently in the middle of Diabetes Awareness Month. If you find yourself experiencing any of the symptoms previously mentioned or you have reason to suspect you might have type 2 diabetes, we urge that you come see us at Doctors express or go see your primary doctor where you can be screened usually with an A1C test.
